Dangerousness, at least potentially for my time management
Our apartment is a 5 minute walk in one direction from the grocery store and a five minute walk in the other direction from a butcher and fresh fruit and veggie stand. I frequent these places multiple times a day which means I am turning into my father. I enjoy cooking way too much for the little time I have to be spending in the kitchen given the mass amounts of papers that need grading and Arabic vocabulary that needs memorizing. But, I there is something relaxing about turning iTunes on (probably too loudly for the neighbors’ preference) and dancing around the kitchen as I prepare dinner for Grace and myself. Alex and Eric even let me (yep, it was a serious battle… except not) cook dinner for them before they caught their train for Mansoura on Sunday. While being stuck in the kitchen all day does not sound like any fun at all and doing the dishes is an unpleasant chore, the excitement I get from coming up with something creative to cook, buying the fresh ingredients (using my Arabic!), and then cooking has become an enjoyable part of living on my own here in Alex.
